Clean water and sanitation seminar

We are hosting a series of seminars throughout the year which will explore the Sustainable Development Goals in more detail and suggest useful classroom resources. Please have a look at our Global Goals, Local Classrooms programme.  Our seminar on 25 May 2017 will look at Global Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

Ensuring access to clean water and sanitation has a massive impact on people's lives. Here in Scotland we can sometimes take these things for granted. Joined by Morna Burdon, an actor and director, we will use drama techniques to explore these issues from the perspective of others. We will also have a selection of teaching materials and reflect on ways to bring this issue into the curriculum.

This is a one-off event as part of a series of seminars organised by Scotdec to explore the Sustainable Development Goals.

Sustainable Development Goals

In September 2015 World Leaders committed to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. 17 goals to achieve 3 extraordinary things in the next 15 years. End extreme poverty. Fight inequality and injustice. Fix climate change.

The Global Goals can provide a great framework for drawing together all the many initiatives in schools like Learning for Sustainability, Eco schools, Children’s Rights, Fair Trade and more. Visit the Global Goals website for more information and details about the World’s Largest Lesson.
