Global issues, global subjects
The Global issues, global subjects project works with secondary schools and teachers across Scotland to bring Global Citizenship Education to life in all areas of the curriculum.
This is a collaborative project across 10 European countries with the aim of providing materials, training and support for Global Citizenship through an overarching theme of dealing with controversial global issues and the Sustainable Development Goals. Teachers will have the opportunity to participate in seminars and conferences across Europe while examining their subject through key global citizenship themes.
The project explores the way in which we can get learners thinking about controversial issues in and support them to take action on local or global issues which are important to them through pupil voice and active participation. Young people will raise awareness in their local communities around the Sustainable Development Goals and other current issues such as migration and climate change.
A key objective of the project is to create a supportive environment for teachers to develop this work and advocating for the importance of Global Citizenship / Learning for Sustainability.
