Our work as part of the the Global issues, global subjects (GIGS) Europe wide project has been recognised with a Special Commendation Certificate for Quality work in GE from the GENE Awards 2021!

GIGS is a collaborative project across 10 European countries, where we sit as the Scottish partner. The project aims to provide materials, training and support for Global Citizenship through an overarching theme of dealing with controversial global issues and the Sustainable Development Goals and explores the way in which we can get learners thinking about controversial issues in and support them to take action on local or global issues which are important to them through pupil voice and active participation.
GENE is the Global Education Network Europe is the network of Ministries, Agencies and other bodies with national responsibility for Global Education in Europe, funded by the European Commission and funding Ministries and Agencies. They support networking, peer learning, policy research, national strategy development and quality enhancement in the field of Global Education in European countries.
GENE seeks to recognise the importance of innovation and transformative learning in Global Education. The award acknowledges Global Education initiatives that promote positive change and open peoples’ eyes and minds to the realities of the world, locally and globally. It encourages Global Education that brings about this change through creativity, participation, direct action, synergies and innovation and that ultimately has the potential to inspire public policy.
