Scotdec and Highland One World are working in partnership with the Scottish Peace Platform to deliver a new programme exploring how schools can support young people to understand global conflict through a peace and justice lens.
The project will bring together teachers, children and young people, and wider education stakeholders across Scotland to explore what meaningful support for teaching about conflict looks like in practice. It responds to growing demand from educators for guidance on how to approach complex and sensitive global issues in the classroom.
Over the coming year, the partnership will deliver a series of workshops and consultations with educators, school leaders, parents and young people. These conversations will focus on building confidence, sharing approaches, and identifying what resources and professional learning are needed to support high-quality, responsible teaching about global conflict.
A key outcome of the project will be a set of evidence-based recommendations to inform future guidance and support across Scottish education.
This partnership forms part of the wider programme of the Scottish Peace Platform, which brings together organisations and practitioners to strengthen peacebuilding practice and dialogue across Scotland.
