We offer high‑quality professional learning for educators across all 32 local authorities in Scotland in partnership with our sister organisations WOSDEC and Highland One World.
We deliver:
- Twilight and in‑service sessions
- Online and in‑person learning
- Courses exploring human rights, global issues, participatory methodologies and critical thinking
- Bespoke sessions responding to current educational priorities

Through our Global Citizenship in Scotland programme we work with 11 local authorities in the east of Scotland to offer tailored CLPL that reflects local priorities around Global Citizenship Education.
Through local authority partners, we offer a probationer programme for all Primary and Secondary probationers. Sessions help new teachers:
- Understand the role of Global Citizenship in Learning for Sustainability
- Explore the links between equality, rights, inclusion and anti‑racist practice
- Plan lessons using a Global Citizenship approach
Probationer feedback from recent years includes:
- 97% rated the programme “Good” or “Excellent”
- 96% reported deeper professional understanding
- 97% increased confidence in global citizenship teaching
Learning for a Better Future (LfaBF) is a fully funded, year‑long GTCS‑accredited programme that strengthens your confidence, leadership and practice in Learning for Sustainability and Global Citizenship Education.
Through national online training days, mentoring, professional reading and a classroom enquiry project, the programme helps you deepen your understanding, challenge your assumptions, and develop practical approaches that make a real impact on learners.
On completion, you gain GTCS Professional Recognition in Learning for Sustainability (Global Citizenship) – a nationally recognised marker of expertise and professional growth.
The Development Education Centres offer a range of free e-learning opportunities for teachers to support the development of Global Citizenship Education within their setting.
The e-learning resources are designed to be worked through at your own pace and provide practical support on a range of Global Citizenship themes.
