Going up in smoke: Malawi, tobacco and us

Going up in Smoke grew out of a Scotdec project Changing Habits for Good. We were interested in alternative smoke free messages to explore with young people focusing on the tobacco industry as a whole.

We wanted to know how tobacco grows and where? Who is involved in the tobacco industry and what are their lives like? Our focus became Malawi, a country whose biggest export is tobacco and has close links to Scotland.
